This composition was painted by a well-known Fedoskino landscape painter Sergey Parmeonov.
Here the artist has masterfully reflected beauty of Russian countryside in winter. On this pencil-box (or cigar) shape box we can see the whole picturesque of fields, forest and river covered with snow. A flash of sunset colors on the sky is achieved with the help of a sparkling gold metal foil. Painterly skill creates a dramatic interplay of light and shadow within the scene.
The scene is framed with a gold line, and two parallel gold lines decorates the sides of the box.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the work while red lacquer completes its interior. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests flat. The work is signed with the artist's name.
