Title: St.Isaac Cathedral
Artist: Tugarinov Mikhail
Size: 22.5x15.5x6.5
Size (inches): 9x6.25x2.25
Price: $790 $699

This beautiful box has been painted by talented Fedoskino artist, Mikhail Tugarinov who specializes in depicting architecture scenes. The piece continues his series of works dedicated the picturesque views of St.-Petersburg, Moscow and Suzdal.
On this composition the artist has painted the Saint Isaac Cathedral in Saint Petersburg. Saint Isaac's Cathedral is the largest Russian Orthodox cathedral in the city. It is the largest orthodox basilica and the fourth largest cathedral in the world. It is dedicated to Saint Isaac of Dalmatia, a patron saint of Peter the Great, who had been born on the feast day of that saint.
The scene is painted with photo-quality precision using brown oils of the Cathedral against the light blue and gray oils of snow and the skies.
A piece of mother-of-pearl is in-layed under the buildings, that adds to the composition luster and brilliance. The scene is framed with a wide gold band. Gold ornamentation wraps around the edges of the lid.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to complete the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the village of Fedoskino and 2015.
