This humorous scene was composed by talented Mstera master Konstantin Bakhilin. It shows two fisherman sitting on the empty barrels, drinking wine and telling each other fish stories.
To focus the viewer's attention on the characters, the artist has drawn them in bright red and green tones whereas the surrounding landscape is painted in brown tones. The scene is richly detailed with shining gold paint.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior and red lacquer to paint the interior of the piece. Very beautiful gold designs decorate the box's exterior. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with Mstera, the title (“Fisherman's Stories”), the year of 2006 and the artist's name on the box's exterior bottom.
