Description:

This very detailed work was painted by one of the talented Mstera artist, Dogadin Alexander. Too pity, but Alexander has passed us away several years ago.
The box shows a moment from Pushkin's Tale of Tsar Saltan. Prince Gvidon and his wife the Princess Swan meet the ship on the board of which Tsar Saltan was sailing. Tsar Saltan heard much about the mysterious and rich island ruled by Prince Gvidon, but he doesn't know that powerful Prince Gvidon is his son.
On the right side of the composition we can see Uncle Chernomor and 33 Warriors coming out of the Sea. The palace is painted very precise and very detailed.
The composition is painted in a palette filled with soft blue, brown and yellow colors.
Intricate gold foliage ornamentation decorate the edges of the lid. Very complex and colorful flower ornament wraps around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the work while red lacquer completes the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition. The box rests on four wavy legs. The work is signed with artist's name and Mstera under the composition, the title is written above the composition. The author sign before his name means, that this is his own original composition.
