Yevgenia (Zhenya) Shatokhina is the artist who painted this beautiful summer landscape. Yevgenia was born in 1972 in the town of Rybinsk, Yaroslavl Region. At present the artist currently lives in the village of Palekh, Ivanovo Region. In 1994 she finished the Palekh Art School. Her teachers were N.M. Smirnov and I.V. Beketov. She was awarded to the diploma of the Second Class by the Committee of Youth Affairs of Ivanovo Region. Her favorite subjects to depict are landscapes, fairy-tales by G.H. Anderson, Russian folk fairy-tales, themes of motherhood and lyric scenes.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The exterior is decorated with intricate gold ornaments. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Palekh, and the year of 2004.
