Description:

This marvelous doll of a jester has been done in 2005 in the town of Moscow by the talented master S. Makritsa. It is cut out of wood and painted with bright water-colors and metallic paints. All the body of the doll including his cap, shirt, trousers, shoes and two fans that he holds in his hands are covered with series of detailed scenes painted in the surrealistic style. Fantasy and obscure dreams are expressed here with the means of a brush and paints. The scenes feature the fairy town with its very beautiful and originally designed architecture, attractive girls playing different musical instruments (some of the girls look as if they were painted by a child), magic pink horses, the sea filled with various fish and water plants, dancing elves (they are painted as butterflies with human faces), and different bright flowers.
All these scenes are mixed, and represent the whole and unseparated composition. Blue, pink and violet tones predominate here. Some parts of the doll are painted in gold paints like his shoes, gloves and collar, for example, while the other parts of its body are covered with silver dust.
The fans that the jester holds in his hands are removable, and can be easily extracted from his body. Two gold pendant balls that decorated the jester's hat are hung by means of two tiny metal rings. The most laborious work has been made while cutting out the face of the jester.
This work has been done so perfectly that the doll looks like a real wooden sculpture!
