Description: This bright set of nesting dolls is an original author work of Nadezhda Romenskaya. The set includes seven richly colored, wooden dolls. Each of seven dolls has the same neatly painted face and wears a beautiful Pavloposadsky shawl.
The theme of this work is a Russian fairy-tale. On the place where sarafan is usually painted the artist depicts the characters from various Russian fairy-tales and legends. The first and the biggest nesting doll depicts the characters from the tale “Ivan Tsarevich, the Firebird and the Grey Wolf”. The second doll shows the forest spirit named starichyok-borovichyok (‘starichyok' in English is an old man; borovichyok is a sort of mushroom) who gives the magic keys to the lad and the maiden. The third doll features the legendary Paradise Bird named Alkonost who is half a woman, half a bird. The fourth doll depicts Berendey kingdom whereas the fifth one shows the wise owl. On the sixth doll we can see the magic apple tree whereas on the seventh one the artist depicts the Golden Fish from the Pushkin's fairy-tale. The biggest doll is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2010, and Russia.
