Description:

This peaceful landscape was painted by the Fedoskino artist Serdotetskova G.M.
Here the artist managed to reproduce skillfully the atmosphere of a warm summer evening. The dim rays of the setting sun lighten up the picturesque meadow, and make the smooth surface of the river shine brightly. Dark, unlit areas of the composition indicate that soon the night will fall. The landscape is green and the trees are full. Yellow tones are used to reproduce the charming natural phenomenon of the sunset. The colors taken from the palette are very natural and realistic. The background shows a group of houses and some figures of people. Birds are scattered throughout the sky. The artist's great understanding of linear structures and linear usage makes the piece very calm and relaxing on the eyes.
The drawing is painted on mother-of-pearl and gold foil that allow a gorgeous translucence to come through the paint. Mother-of-pearl is used to highlight the sky, the river and the grass, whereas gold foil is used to highlight only the grassy area. These materials decorate wonderfully the composition, and create the illusion of the sun reflection on the water and the ground lit up by golden rays.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior. The box has a hinge above the composition and rests on a flat bottom. The sides of the box are adorned with two simple gold lines. The Fedoskino insignia can be found on the interior of the lid. The box is signed with the name of the artist, village and year (2001).
Lovely!
