This dramatic winter landscape has been painted by Dunaev from the village of Fedoskino. The bell tower and several cathedrals rise above the small wooden peasant houses covered with white snow. The sunset paints the dark evening sky with a warm golden glow. This visual effect is achieved with the help of gold metal powder. Mother-of-pearl is inlaid in the portion of the bell tower and some of the cathedrals. The fir painted on the left creates balance and depth of the scene.
The scene is framed with a gold metal line.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the village of Fedoskino, and the year of 2005.
