Fedoskino artist, Mikhail Ruzheyvikov, created this lovely set of boxes that rest on a tray. One box painted in light tones features the allegorical depiction of a day, while another one painted in dark tones features the allegorical depiction of a night. The exterior of both boxes and the tray is covered with so called "dust resist patterns". These patterns are composed of blue, metal gold, and black blurry spots scattered against light gray or black background. The interior of the boxes is traditionally red.
The set of boxes is made out of paper-mache. Each box is hinged from the left on the scene, and rests on a small platform. The work is signed, dated (2005), and titled "Day and Night" by the artist.
