Description:

The talented and famous Fedoskino painter of seascapes Alexey Valyalin painted this small box. It shows a quite harbor, and several ships anchored not far from the shore. The mirror like surface of the sea reflects the glow of sunset.
The composition is framed with gold scan patterns composed of tiny beads hand punched from gold metal sheets and then painstakingly affixed by hand to the box. Hand punched gold beads can be also found wrapping around the bottom part of the box's sides. In the middle of each side there is an original gold and silver scan pattern formed by tiny beads and hoops hand punched from gold and silver metal sheets and then glued to the box. These patterns are accented by bright violet paint mixed with aluminum powder.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The box has a hinge from the top of the composition, and rests on a flat bottom. It is signed with the artist's name, and the village of Fedoskino.
