Description:

This attractive small box is a creation of Sergey Kirsanov from the village of Fedoskino. It depicts a peaceful winter scene. Several wooden houses and household buildings located not far from the forest are covered with white snow. Painted in the realistic style, this work splendidly reproduce atmosphere of a Russian village.
White and blue-gray tones suitable for depiction of a winter scene dominate here. Mother-of-pearl is set into the sky to create a golden glow of the sunset.
The decoration of the box's exterior pays a special attention. The edges of the lid seem to be sprinkled with dark gray paint; and this serves as a frame for the depicted scene. The box's sides are adorned with tiny thin gray veins scattered against the light blue background; the box's exterior bottom is decorated with tiny thin blue veins scattered against the dark gray background. The interior is traditionally red. The box's sides are also adorned with so called "scan patterns" composed of tiny shapes hand punched from silver metal sheets and then painstakingly affixed by hand to the box.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The box has a hinge from the top of the composition, and rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name.
