The talented Fedoskino artist Ilyina created this attractive small box. It depicts a humorous scene-two dwarf boys help the chick to get out of the egg.
A piece of mother-of-pearl is set into the egg. The scene is painted against the delicate yellow background that extends on the whole box's exterior. To decorate the box's exterior and to imitate marble coloring, the artist covered it with black blurry spots. The box's exterior is also adorned with gold metal dust and gold leaves. Its interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box sits flat. The Fedoskino "troika" insignia can be found on the interior of the lid. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, and the year of 2006.
