Description:

The talented Fedoskino artist Mishina created this portrait of a peasant girl. Village Girl holds the jar filled with fresh milk that she carries for her parents who work in the field. This subject is based on the work of famous Russian Artist Kostantin Makovskiy "Girl with a Jar".The original Makovskiy's painting is exibited in the Art Museum of town of Penza, Russia.
The palette is arranged in a way to get picture quality details with blending of paints and transitioning of colors. Shading and color variations reveal contours in the girl's facial expression and her intricately drawn costume. The ruffles in her sleeves seem to waver in the breeze.
A piece of mother-of-pearl is hidden under the girl's apron.
The artist continues to paint the blue sky tinged with a golden/yellow gleam of the setting sun on the box's sides. The lower part of the sides is decorated with two golden lines passing all around the box. The box's external bottom is covered with bright blue and gold paints, its interior is traditionally red.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. The box has a hinge from the left of the composition, and rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed in the bottom of composition by Ye. Mishina.
