Description:

The famous canvas-on-oil painting called “The Pine Forest. The Mast Forest in the Vyatskaya Province” inspired Natalya Gogina to create this splendid box. Painted in 1878 by the outstanding Russian landscape painter Ivan Shishkin (1832-1898), it currently hangs in the Moscow Tretyakov Gallery.
The scene is painted very close to the original. Almost unnoticeable silver paint can be found highlighting some areas of the composition.
The edges of the lid are decorated with a gold scan pattern composed of tiny shapes hand punched from gold metal leaf, and glued to the box manually.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The box has a hinge from the top of the scene, and rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, and the year of 2007.
