This dramatic seascape has been painted by Iliya Buzovkin. Here he depicts the sailors who have left their sailing ship, and nearly approached the shore on board of a small boat.
Refined oil-painting techniques give this piece depth and life. The fluffy clouds in the sky are skillfully painted, and look strikingly realistic. The palette used is full of blue paints to convey the marine and aquatic environment within the scene.
The box exterior is decorated with elegant gold ornaments.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the year of 2007.
