Description:

This exquisite box is a creation of Natalya Gogina from the village of Fedoskino. The scene painted on the box's lid is an interpretation of a canvas-on-oil painting called "Saint-Petersburg" that was painted in 1798 by G.S. Sergeev.
The box is beautifully decorated. The scene is set into an oval and encircled with a gold band. The box's exterior imitates a stone color: dark brown and light brown blurry sports act together to form a single, elegant pattern. In each corner of the lid, and on the box's sides Gogina has painted a graceful leafy pattern painted in oils and accented with gold paint. Each corner of the lid and the box's sides are also decorated with a gold scan pattern (tiny shapes hand punched from gold metal sheets, and then glued to the box manually).
The box is made out of high quality paper-mache. The interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on four legs. The box is signed with the artist's name, the village of Fedoskino, the title and the year of 2003 on the box's exterior bottom.
