This beautiful summer landscape with a Russian medieval monastery surrounded by the massive defensive wall has been created by Natalya Gogina.
This Monastery is St.Cyril's Monastery at the White Lake, Vologda region of Russia.
The palette is dominated by various shades of green oils to reflect the depicted season.
The box's sides are decorated with a silver scan pattern composed of tiny shapes hand punched from gold metal sheets and then painstakingly affixed by hand to the box.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid isn't hinged, and the box rests on four rounded feet. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, and the year of 2003 on the box's exterior bottom.
