This beautiful box painted on a mythological theme is a creation of Tatyana Gomzina. Here the artist has drawn Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty. She is also known as Venus in Roman Mythology. According to a myth, Aphrodite was born from the foam of the ocean.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. Gold line is used to frame the scene, whereas the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
