This portrait a beautiful girl has been painted by Marina Chikvasova. It is an interpretation of the famous canvas-on-oil painting "The Portrait of a Girl" created by Ivan Makarov (1822 - 1897) in 1852. This masterpiece is exhibited in the State Art Architectural Museum of the town of Rybinsk.
The outer edge of the lid is painted with a fine band of gold paint. The base of the box has two lines done in gold painted parallel to each other, the bottom line slightly thicker than the other.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the portrait, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
