Description:

E. Miroshnichenko from the village of Fedoskino always creates unusual works. Very often her boxes are designed in an original manner, have uncommon shape and supplied with three-dimensional elements. Her fantasy has no limits, and sometimes her works look more like figurines than boxes repeating the shape of a clock or a dog.
This work looks like a chest. It is supplied with two metal handles attached to the left and right sides of the box, the lock, and tiny gold round shapes to imitate nail-heads. The box's exterior is painted to imitate brown boards the chest is made of. On the box's lid the artist has painted the little girl and the cat to create the illusion that they are sleeping on the chest. It is an interesting fact that in Ancient Russia people slept on chests instead of beds, and the artist has remembered this old tradition in this work.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The interior is dark red. The lid is hinged at top, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name.
