This box is a creation of prominent Fedoskino landscape painter, Sergey Parmeonov.
Here he has masterfully reflected beauty of Russian countryside in winter. Snow covered the untidy haystack...The river is still of a dark colour, even if it is frozen, this is the first ice... A flash of sunset colors on the sky is achieved with the help of a sparkling peice of mother-of-pearl. Painterly skill creates a dramatic interplay of light and shadow within the scene.
The scene is framed with a gold line, while the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the work while red lacquer completes its interior. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on the four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name.
