Talented Fedoskino artist Simonov Alexander has painted this peaceful scene with a mother horse and a foal. With this box the artist has continue a series of the works with animals.
The artist has depicted a horse and a foal at the edge of the forest early in the morning. The animals eat fresh juicy grass. The stems of grass and trees are painted out in a great detail, same as the figures of the animals.
The scene is painted in brown, gray, blue and green tones. A piece of mother-of-pearl can be found in the sky over the animals.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box.
The painting is framed with a gold line. Two parallel gold lines are decorating the sides of the box.
The lid is hinged from the top of the painting and the box rests on the six legs, which comes from a wavy platform. The work is signed with the artist's name and 2015.
