The box is made out of paper-mache. The exterior (lid and sides) is covered with crimson oils and studded with tiny pink spots, it looks like the stone, but black lacquer is also quite apparent. The interior is traditionally red, the base is covered with black lacquer. The oval scene, the edges of the lid and the sides are covered with beautiful gold ornamentation. The box is hinged from the top of the composition and rests on four legs. The box is signed with the artist's name (Simonova.), village (Fedoskino) and year (2003).
