This charming small box has been created by Pichugina from the village of Fedoskino. It shows two girls holding the bunch of water lilies. One of them sits on a branch of the big tree, while another one stands in water. The girls are so absorbed in admiring the flowers that they don't notice the wood-goblin spying on them peeping out from the tree.
The scene is painted in dark green tones that suit perfectly for the reproduction of greenery growing on the bank, and the water of the pond. Mother-of-pearl creates the brilliance of water, and decorates the composition. The artist extends the painting on the lid's sides continuing to paint the foliage of trees. The green exterior of the box tones with the palette of the composition filled with various shades of green. The interior of the box is traditionally red.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the composition. The box rests upon a flat bottom. The work is signed and dated (2006) by the artist.
