This charming small box has been painted by M. Rogatova from the village of Fedoskino. It shows children making a snowman. This kind of winter amusement is one of the most favorite in Russia.
For this composition Rogatova has chosen two main colors- blue and silver that are the most suitable for depiction of a winter scene.
The composition is framed with a blue band outlined with two parallel gold lines, and decorated with gold stars and snowflakes. Gold stars and snowflakes are also scattered on the box's sides as an original ornamentation.
The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and dark red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the name of the artist at the bottom of the composition.
