Description:

The famous Fedoskino artist Vladimir Serdotetskov created this originally shaped box. He is an expert in painting landscapes, and this beautiful winter scene proves this fact. Here the artist reproduced a thrilling moment of nature when the first snow covers the ground. It always happens unexpectedly, and peasants haven't time to finish their agricultural works. Here we can see a peasant who carts hay; may be in a day it will be late to transport hay from the field to the barn as it will be covered with deep snowdrifts. The setting sun shines brightly, it still keeps the warmth of summer; the white snow reflects a golden glow of the sunset.
Blue and white tones suitable for depiction of a winter scene dominate here. Gold metal foil shines through the sky creating the sunset glow; it is also set into the snow areas to imitate the effect of sunrays reflection.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The box has a hinge from the top of the composition and rests on a flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
