The famous Fedoskino landscape painter, Mikhail Papenov, is a creator of this charming small box. It features the beauty of Russian countryside in winter.
The scene is bright and radiant as besides of various shades of light blue oils the artist has used here gold metal paint and a piece of mother-of-peal. Gold metal paint creates brilliance of the sky, while mother-of-pearl is set into the middle part of the scene to attract light, and make the box look more appealing.
The scene is framed with a line drawn in white oils. The box exterior imitates the coloring of grey marble (tiny dark grey veins are scattered against the light grey background). The interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed in gold paints with the artist's name, Fedoskino, the title ("Winter Landscape") and the year of 2007 on the box's exterior bottom.
