Description:

The splendid box painted in an original manner by R. Tyuvaev is a true work of art. It shows the Learnt Cat (the character from Pushkin's introduction to "Ruslan and Lyudmila") recording Baba-Yaga's comments in the big magic book. The scene is very bright as it is painted in radiant tones of oils over shining silver powder and mother-of-pearl inlay. More radiance also comes from gold metal paint that details some elements of the scene.
The box's exterior is covered with bright blue paint mixed with silver powder, and decorated lustrous gold bands. On the box's sides Tyuvaev has glued small oval pearl beads; some of them are painted to look like beetles. The dark crimson interior of the box is densely covered with blue and pink blurry spots.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the year of 2007.
