This beautiful semicircular box has been painted by the well-known Fedoskino artist Alexander Mikheev. It depicts a picturesque view of Russian Orthodox Cathedrals at night. The palette is based on the successful combination of blue and white tones that help to create an illusion of a moonlit night. The sky shimmers dramatically with silver metal paint. Almost invisible silver dust is spread throughout the scene to fill it with a magic sparkle.
The blue ribbon wraps around the lower part of the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the top of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskno and the year of 2007.
