The well-known talented Fedoskino artist Alexey Chirkov is the creator of this stunning box. This artist is fond of owls, and he has already created a series of works dedicated to these enigmatic birds of prey. This is another work from this series.
Here the artist depicts the snowy owl with its nestlings. Mother-of-pearl shimmers dramatically with blue and green tones to imitate the northern lights of the polar night. Some areas of the scene are highlighted with gold and silver powder. The stones the birds are sitting on are crafted three-dimensionally.
The box is constructed from quality paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the village of Fedoskino, the year of 2007 and the title (“The Snowy Owl”) on the box's exterior bottom.
