One of the most famous Fedoskino landscape painters, Vladimir Serdodetskov, created this serene winter scene. The beauty of a winter evening in a small Russian village has been masterfully expressed here. While painting this work the artist has used various shades of blue suitable for reproduction of a depicted season. Gold metal leaf inlay create a gleam of the sunset and its reflection on the snow.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the left of the scene. The box rests on a flat bottom. It is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2007. A beguiling landscape done by one of the masters of this genre in Fedoskino.
