This elegantly shaped box has been painted by the famous Fedoskino artist Yugeny Solodilov. It shows Thumbelina sitting on the green meadow. The scene is nicely painted in green, white and brown tones of oils over silver powder that helps to strengthen the colors. A piece of mother-of-pearl helps to create a three-dimensional look of the big leaves the woman is sitting on, and to fill the scene with a magic glow. The scene is extended on the box's sides where the artist continues to paint the green meadow.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the box's exterior bottom while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, the year of 2007, and the title ("Thumbelina")..
