The famous Fedoskino artist A. Chirkov is the creator of this small oval box. This artist is fond of owls, and he has already created a series of works dedicated to these enigmatic birds of prey. This is one more work from this series.
Here Chirkov depicts the Eagle Owl peeping out of the hollow. The scene is painted in brown tones of oils over silver and gold powder that shine beautifully through the oils. Gold is also to paint the sky in the background. The scene is extended on the box's sides where the artist continues to paint the tree the owl is sitting on and the surrounding landscape.
The box's exterior is decorated with nice gold ornaments.
The box is constructed from quality paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged from the left, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, the year of 2007 and the title (“Eagle Owl Peeping out of the Hollow”) on the box's exterior bottom.
