Igor Isaev is the author of this small beautiful box. The work is called "Sparrow Tumult", and shows the cats hunting for the sparrows in the winter forest. The scene painted on the box's lid is extended on the box's sides. Light blue tones of oils suitable for reproduction of a winter scene dominate here. Silver paint is used to highligh each of the bird painted here. Gold paint shines through the hair of one of the cats; gold paint is also used to paint some plants. Several pieces of mother-of-pearl shine through some areas on the box's lid and on it's sides.
The scene is framed with two parallel gold lines. The box's interior is light grey. On the lid's interior Isaev has painted the sparrows sitting on the tree. The box's interior bottom is covered with gold paint; its exterior bottom is covered with black lacquer.
The box is made out of paper-mache. The lid is hinged, and the box sits flat. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, the title and the year of 2007.
