This beautiful portrait of an enigmatic lady with a mask was painted by Dmitriy Bebikhov of Fedoskino. It is a close up adaptation of Sergey Gribkov's (1822-1893) original painted in the second half of the 19th century. The photo-quality of this portrait is hard to ignore, which is a testament to the classical training Bebikhov went through enabling him to paint in this manner.
The portrait is framed with a thin gold line. Two parallel gold lines wrap around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the portrait, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, the title and the year of 2007.
