Primush from the village of Fedoskino created this splendid box.
The theme of the box is based on Makovskiy's oil-on-canvas. It depicts the reaper nursing her baby. She sits on the ground under the shade of a self-made tent, and her little son plays nearby. The sun shines brightly, and the ripe golden wheat looks so beautiful against the blue sky. Soon she will have to leave her infants to continue her hard work in the field.
Bright blue, red and subdued green oils are used to paint this scene. Tiny figures of peasants cropping wheat drawn in the background help to create a panoramic view.
The scene is framed with diminutive gold and aluminum beads. The edges of the lid are adorned gold leafy pattern accented with aluminum paints. The bottom part of the box's body, and each of the box's legs are decorated with gold ornaments.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The box has a hinge from the left of the scene, and rests on legs. Signed with the artist's name, the year of 2001 and the village of Fedoskino.
