Description:

The canvas-on-oil painting “A Young Woman Wearing a Wreath” inspired Sergey Pershin to create this box. Painted in 1880 by Konstantin Egorovich Makovsky (1839 - 1915), it is kept in a private collection.
The portrait is painted in the realistic style. Gold paint shines through the oils creating brilliance of the woman's dress and jewelry.
The portrait is framed with a gold line; two parallel gold lines decorate the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2007, and the title (K. Makovsky ‘A Young Woman Wearing a Wreath' 1880).
