Description:

This charming box has been painted by one of the leading Fedoskino artists, Sergey Knyazev. The work is called “A Winter Fairy-Tale”, and shows a beautiful panorama of the town of Suzdal.
Suzdal being one of the oldest Russian towns is an important tourist center nowadays. It features many fine examples of old Russian architecture — most of them churches and monasteries.
The scene is painted in the recognizable Knyazev's style over a large piece of mother-of-pearl that shines brightly with green and pink undertones. The exterior of the piece is painted with a creamy white lacquer mixed with gold dust while the interior is covered with a light blue velvety material. The white-creamy surface of the box's exterior is covered with very pale pink and green blurry spots to imitate a stone color. The box rests on four small rounded, gold metal legs.
The box is constructed from quality paper-mache. The lid is hinged from the left of the scene. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino, the year of 2008 and the title on the box's exterior bottom.
