Description:

This spectacular Russian lacquered box was painted by one of the leading Fedoskino artists, Roman Tyuvaev. This box is made from papier-mache, and its exterior is decorated with three-dimensional elements. The work is painted exquisitely all around and inside out.
On the box's lid the artist painted the forest spirit, Leshyi, accompanied by the spirits of mushrooms. On the box's exterior bottom the artist depicted the mushrooms that look like tasty mushrooms called “agaric honey” that are very popular among Russian mushroomers. The interior of the lid depicts the forest nymph wearing the wreath whereas the box's interior bottom shows the forest nymph playing the violin. On the box's exterior the scenes are painted against the silver background whereas on the box's interior the artist has chosen the golden background for his scenes. On the lid, bright pieces of mother-of-pearl shine through the caps of the mushrooms that are crafted three-dimensionally. The three-dimensional natural shell is glued to the right side of the lid for ease of opening. Other three-dimensional elements are three natural, round-shaped pearls on which the box rests; they are glued to the box's exterior bottom. Natural pearls can be also found decorating the scene painted on the lid's interior. The box's sides are adorned with rich gold ornaments. This is a unique piece to add your collection.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened to the left of the scenes. The work is signed with the artist's name, and the year of 2009.
