This originally shaped box has been painted by Valeriy Kovalyov from the village of Fedoskino. The work is called “In the Estate”, and shows the family enjoying wild Russian nature in summer. Father and his little son and daughter water the horse on the riverside while mother nurses her baby under the tree. On the box's sides the artist continues to pain the beautiful summer landscape.
The box demonstrates Valeriy Kovalyov's unique painting style that resembles a watercolor technique.
The scene is framed with a light green line painted in oils; the same light green line can be found wrapping around the bottom part of the box's body. On the box's bottom part the artist has painted many-colored free designs.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The box has a hinge from the top of the composition and rests on a flat bottom. The box is signed with the artist's name and the title.
