Description:

This gorgeous rectangular box is a creation of Alexey Puchkov. Alexey is the son of the outstanding Fedoskino painter, Piotr Puchkov. Like his father Alexey specializes in painting architecture, and he is known as one of the best contemporary painters of this complicated genre.
The box shows the beautiful view of the center of Moscow. In the foreground we can see the Temple of Christ the Savior and the embankment of Moscow River while in the background the artist has painted cathedrals, palaces and towers of the Moscow Kremlin.
Blue and white tones of oil paints suitable for depiction of a winter scene predominate here. Large pieces of shining mother-pearl are inlaid into the water of Moscow River and into the architecture of the Temple of Christ the Savior, the Great Kremlin Palace depicted in the background and into the fragment of Kremlin's wall. Gold metal leaf shine through the cupolas of the cathedrals, through the roofs of some buildings and also is used to create a light source in the windows of the houses depicted in the left part of the composition.
The composition is framed with a gold line; the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the composition, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2009.
