This brilliantly painted portrait of an Italian boy with a flute is creation of Fomichov. Painted against the mountainous background, the boy looks straightly at the viewer with his black, clever eyes. This work is a perfect specimen Fedoskino lacquered miniature.
The portrait is framed with an elegant gold leafy pattern. The box's exterior imitates the color a stone (brown blurry spots and veins cover the bright golden background. The interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened to the top of the portrait, and the box rests on legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and the year of 2008.
