This originally shaped box has been painted by the well-known Fedoskino artist Yegeniy Solodilov. It is so pity, that he past us away so young in the last year.
The box shows the witch dressed in the costume holding a broom in her hands and staying in mortar, ready to fly in it. Her hair is waving...On the back scene we can see a church and a wooden village house.
The scene is painted in blue, red, and brown tones of oils over silver powder that helps to strengthen the oils. Gold paint is used to detail the witch's dress and high-light the details. A large piece of mother of pearl is shines from the dress of the witch and partly from the roof of a Church. The scene is extended on the box's sides where the artist continues to paint the interior of the room where the girl is sitting.
On the box's black lacquered exterior bottom the artist has written his name, the title (" Witch"), Fedoskino, and the year of 2009, all in gold. The interior is traditionally covered with red lacquer.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. It has a hinge from the left of the scene and rests on a flat bottom.
