Description:

Andrey Gaiduk is the author of this breathtaking composition. It depicts a bird's-eye view of the Moscow Kremlin's Cathedrals. In the foreground we can see the Archangel Cathedral that in the Middle Ages was the sepulcher of grand princes. The next building is the Cathedral of the Annunciation that in the Middle Ages was a domestic church of grand princes and tsars and was designed to host family events (weddings, christening of infants, etc.). In the far background we can see the Temple of Christ the Saviour.
The composition is painted in white, light blue and grey tones of oils suitable for reproduction of a winter scene. Silver powder is used to create a sparkle of the river and the cupolas and roofs of the cathedrals. Brilliant gold paint is used richly to detail and decorate the architecture.
The scene is framed with a gold line. Two parallel gold lines can be found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. A hinge is fastened to the top of the scene, and the box rests on legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and the title (“Moscow”).
