Description:

This impressive view of the Moscow Kremlin has been painted by the outstanding Fedoskino artist, Vladimir Monashov. In the foreground we can see the red brick Kremlin wall; from right to left the artist has painted the following towers: Spasskaya Tower with its famous clock, Tsarskaya Tower that has an unusual tent-like structure, Nabatnaya (Alarm Bell) Tower, and Konstantino-Yeleninskaya Tower which function in the Middle Ages was to protect the settlement around the fortified city.
The first building behind the Kremlin wall is the Archangel Cathedral that was the sepulcher of grand princes. Then we can see the Tsar Bell lying in the middle of Ivanovskaya Square. The next points of interest are the Belfry of Ivan the Great and the Cathedral of Assumtion. In the far background the Cathedral of the Annunciation is depicted.
A large shining piece of mother-of-pearl is set into the center of the composition to attract light to the brilliantly painted medieval architecture. Radiance of the cupolas in the sun is achieved with the help of gold powder. Silver powder is used to highlight the square and some parts of the architecture. The scene is framed with a gold line. Two parallel gold lines can be found wrapping around the box's sides.
The box is constructed out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The box has a hinge from the left of the scene, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, the year of 2009 and the village of Fedoskino.
