This gorgeous box has been painted by talented Fedoskino artist Olga Borisova. Olga is famous for her beautiful portrait works. Quite often she is taken the special orders to paint a portrait of a person or family on a box from a photograph. Here we can see a good sample of her wonderful artistic skills.
The painting of a loving couple is done on the shining pearl surface. The scene is encompassed with a gold metal frame. The rest of the box is also decorated with pieces of mother-of-pearl, but different colors.
The box's lid is richly decorated. We can see several pieces of mother-of-pearl decorated with gold lines.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. The exterior of the piece is painted with a creamy white lacquer while the interior is covered with a beige velvety material. The lid is hinged from the top of the composition and the box rests on four small, rounded gold metal legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
