Description:

Known for her interesting boxes with three-dimensional elements carved from them, Karina Kersilyan of Fedoskino takes her art a step further by making the entire piece more a sculpture than a box! This work reproduces the mushrooms called "the chanterelle". They ripen in the middle of July, and they are very popular among Russian mushroomers owing to their delicious taste. These mushrooms look absolutely like real ones taking into account their size and appearance. The mushrooms grow on the small stub among three-dimensional leaves and sticks.
The most laborious work has been done by placing a three-dimensional alder-tree cone and fir-needles in the middle of the biggest mushroom's cap. What's more surprising is that the top section of the stub opens on a hinge to reveal a small square compartment-a box after all!
The piece rests on a flat bottom, and is signed with Karina's first name on the bottom.
A unique addition to any collection!
