Svetlana Yevdokimova-Belovodova from the village of Fedoskino created this strikingly beautiful paper-mache set that consists of a small box that rests on a tray. The work is called "Lel and the Snowmaiden" and shows the date of Lel with the Snowmaiden. The scene is painted in light tones of oils. A large piece of mother-of-pearl is set into the area where the tree is depicted. The costumes of the characters are decorated with gold and silver paint. The characters' costumes are also decorated with brilliant crystal beads.
The exterior of the box and the tray are covered with cream lacquer, and this cream surface is studded with almost invisible silver veins. Along the box's sides the artist has written the following phrase using oil paints: … how merrily the daybreak sings when the land is full of love. The box's lid is hinged from the top of the scene and the box rests on four turquoise beads glued to the box's exterior manually. The tray is decorated with a complex pattern composed of glass beads and turquoise beads glued to the tray manually.
The piece is made out of papier-mache. The interior of the box is covered with red lacquer and this red lacquered area is studded with gold and silver veins. The work signed with the artist's name, the year of 2010, Fedoskino and the title on the lid's interior.
