Description:

Mariya Kravchenko from the village of Fedoskino is the author of this stunning portrait of Princess Yelena Pavlovna with her daughter Marie. The original of this work was painted on canvas by the outstanding Russian painter, Karl Brulov, in 1830. This masterpiece is currently exhibited in the State Russian Museum in St. Petersburg .
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the box while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The scene is framed with a gold line while the box's sides are decorated with two parallel gold lines. The lid is hinged from the left of the portrait, and the box rests on a flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2008.
